Welcome to My Fundraising Page

Chef Bobby Nahra

I am pleased to join South Oakland Shelter (SOS) as a celebrity dancer in the 9th annual Dancing with the Detroit Stars gala event to be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 7 pm until midnight at The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. I hope you will join me for an electrifying evening filled with twists, twirls, and intrigue—all for a good cause.

All proceeds raised leading up to and during the event will directly benefit the men, women, and children involved with South Oakland Shelter’s emergency shelter and housing programs. Since its founding, SOS has cared for more than 12,208 homeless children and adults. Partnering with 83 congregations, SOS operates a rotating shelter system to house and feed the homeless populations. Annually, over 8,000 volunteers commit approximately 42,000 hours of in-kind support to provide over 33,000 meals and 11,000 nights of shelter. In order to continue its great work, SOS needs our help!

Support me and my dancing adventures as I fundraise for South Oakland Shelter and the great work they are doing for the homeless men, women, and children in our community! Thank you.

Chef Bobby's Bio:

Robert Nahra, aka Chef Bobby to most, has successfully created many unique mouth watering recipes and dishes that has skyrocketed his culinary career over the years combining simple, fresh ingredients that are tied to his roots of Middle Eastern and Italian cuisine. The Lakeland name started with his mom when she opened her own catering business in 1976. Robert Nahra started cooking and helping his mother with her business at the young age of 6 years old. His mother taught him to take the ingredients when cooking and put his heart into each dish. He didn't quite understand this until he got a little older. His mother lovingly encouraged his growth and to pursue his career in the culinary arts.

Chef Bobby has turned many heads within the Metro Detroit area over the past several years. He is a familiar face on FOX 2 Detroit with the weekly Cooking School segment, He likes to call Fox 2 Detroit his second home. He has also been showcased on WXYZ-TV Channel 7, Just Ask Talk Show and in Chuck Bennett’s Society Confidential Column in the Detroit News. He often teams up with fellow celebrity chefs like, Reina Bazzi, featured on ABC Television Network’s The Taste, Master Chef. He's very well known for his famous Super bowl chili recipe that went viral on Yahoo news after his segment on WXYZ-TV Channel 7 in February. His resume is extensive with high profile venues and corporate companies including The Detroit Opera House, General Motors, GM Heritage Center, Royal Oak Music Theatre, The Detroit Masonic Temple, The Community House of Downtown Birmingham, Law Offices of Joumana Kayrouz, P.L.L.C. Howard and Howard Law Firm, US Jet, Active Aero, Willow Run Airport and Detroit City Airport to name just a few.

Chef Bobby is nationally ranked after Baron Chocolates brought him onboard as their Chocolatier. While growing up, he dabbled in the deserts and chocolates as a hobby creating candied delights with his mother. This was one of his favorite things to do while in the kitchen. A dream come true, he was invited to attend the 2016 Academy Awards ceremonies in Los Angeles, California representing Baron Chocolates and hand crafting mouth watering truffles onsite at several of the A-list festivities. The coveted candies included several unique flavors: spicy pumpkin seed, brownie and caramel, and coconut and almond. His chocolate creations were included in the Oscar swag bags for the celebrities that attended the event. Chef Bobby has also had the honor of working side by side with the world renowned tennis athlete and star, Maria Sharopova at the 2016 Snack & Candy Expo in Chicago launching her new healthy chocolate snacks, Sugarpova. The two have partnered together and Chef Bobby will be producing her line of delicious treats in the near future. Chef Bobby also hopes to open his very own chocolate shop very soon in Eastern Market in Downtown Detroit.

He is always giving back to his cherished community in some way. He recently donated a seven-course gourmet dinner to be auctioned off at the Father Solanus Casey Center Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph Wine Gala, under the auspices of Vice Postulator, Father Larry Webber, Director of the Father Solanus Casey Guild. More recently, Chef Bobby catered an event for Presidential Candidate Marco Rubio, while on the campaign trail. He also pulled together picnic baskets for an event where Chuck Bennett took 826 inner city kids to Cedar Point for the Horatio Williams Foundation. They got to dine on shrimp cocktail, crab salad, chicken salad, fruit salad, pastries, grilled asparagus, fingerling potatoes, filet mignon, and rib eye. Chef Bobby goes out of his way on many occasions to help those in need. His heart is not only in the kitchen but also on his sleeve for those in need.

Bobby has focused on balancing his business and family which is extremely important to him. With his wife, Nadya, and two children, they devote at least 2 nights a week to family dinners and get together for quality time. He also is an avid health and fitness enthusiast.
